Pawintenan Agung

Pawintenan Agung

Thinking about Pewintanan ceremony performed for Ida Bagus Indra and I Gusti Ayu Ari Kusumawati at Geria Telabah in Denpasar Bali, it was November 2006 and a full moon.
The ceremony was conducted at the family temple, Mrajan Geria Telabah at jalan Thamrin I/10 A Denpasar Bali.
My wife and I went through the process of the ceremony locally known as a Pawintenan Agung, grand pawintenan ceremony involving a high Hindu Balinese priest who happened to be the young brother of my great grand father.
Long before the ritual of the ceremony my wife and I performed a number of temples including Uluwatu Temple, my ckan temple in Besakih, Melanting Temple in Pulaki, North Bali and many other temples. From each temple we received holy water as a symbol of blessing from the Gods and Goddesses and holy spirit. This holy water is known as tirtha pemuput (the concluding holy water) to officially complete the whole process of the grand ceremony.
After the ceremony we still received a special dharma wacana providing spiritual enlightenment for both of us from which we learn how to internalize of “tri kaya parisudha” three ways to cleanse your thoughts, speech and actions.
it is through the process that oneis expected to be able to take control of the desire performing the good staying away from the bad.
